This video discusses the idea of how to formulate a mission statement or vision. The quick and dirty version is that “why –> how –> what” is more effective than “what –> how –> why”. One can also draw a degree of analogy with what Aristole describes as Political Oratory in Rhetoric. Lastly, an interesting choice of words to describe the difference between traditional leadership and modern day leadership is: (17:20) Leaders are people who lead though authority and “those that lead” are people that “lead others by inspiring them -because they want to follow them.”
An example: “LoT:G is lead by the idea that better individuals create better communities. By shaping individuals, the learning environment and greater community we create individuals capable of leading.” Vs. “LoT:G creates people that lead, by shaping individuals, the learning environment and greater community. We do this because we believe that better individuals create better communities.”
